Prince Turns (the number formerly known as) 50

Prince Rogers Nelson quietly celebrated his 50th birthday over the weekend by having a cocktail with friends, going for a casual stroll down Hollywood Blvd., and meeting up with some lady friends at a Los Angeles hot spot. In contrast, we blasted all of the Minneapolis funk icon’s albums from beginning to end, had a movie marathon that started fabulously with Purple Rain and ended with the not-so-hot Graffiti Bridge, and wore lots of purple and lace–all so we could come up with this definitive list of 50 things we love and hate about him.

this article sucks. who is this joker? no one needs someone to tell them the 5 classic prince albums. and who wants to do the math to figure out that all these idiotic lists adds up to the number 50? shouldn't it just be one list of 50 things? too much work i guess.

Don't agree with easybreezy - I enjoyed this blog, although the most annoying thing Prince ever did is missing. Since he forced youtube to block the Creep video (although he is in no case the copyright holder)- I decided to totally dislike him and his music! Well even Radiohead don't agree with him. For me this is a sad story about a huge artist who became an creepy dwarf....

Hey Aidin, guess who was a production secretary on the suck-ass movie Graffiti Bridge? That's right, yours truly. Boy did it suck, but it was a great experience and I still love Prince. I did get to dance with George Clinton, kind of, at the wrap party. I got too self-conscious, so I bailed on him mid-song. And I babysat his grandson when he was doing his scenes. Surreal, since I was listening to Maggot Brain a lot then.

Ah thank you for posting and thank you @Maureen for sharing. I am a true die hard appreciator of Prince's music for I flew to London last year to see him perform from New York City. Talk about me loving his work. He is the ultimate performer. I own all of his albums on CD and even some on tape/vinyl. Currently (ALL because of Prince) that is why I have been studying the rights of independent musicians online. Thanks for sharing!
