Beck, Wilco and others join Radiohead and Jack Johnson on Outside Lands Lineup

It’s hard to choose just one summer festival on which to blow your George W. Bush-endorsed tax rebate check, but the decision just got a little easier now that the likes of Beck, Wilco, Broken Social Scene, Devendra Banhart and Cold War Kids have jumped onboard the certifiably eclectic lineup of San Francisco’s first Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival. Set to take place August 22-24 at Golden Gate Park, the three-day concert also boasts previously announced headliners Radiohead, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Jack Johnson, as well as a slew of Bay Area locals such as Matt Nathanson, The Coup, Goapele, Dredg and Two Gallants. Tickets, priced at $225.50 (plus fees) for the three days, will go on sale Sunday, March 30 at 10am PST. Visit www.sfoutsidelands.com for details including ticketing information and the full lineup.

I really don't get why these things are getting so astronomically expensive. Probably just because I'm jealous that I can't afford it, but I simply can't justify the $550 for two people to go to this clusterfuck in GG park. Damn, I was all excited too...

Yeah I'm really bummed, awesome lineup but far too expensive to justify. There's got to be some way to sneak in, or at least find a place where you can hear the main stage pretty well-- it is in GGP afterall. They can't shut down the whole freaking park for three days... can they?

Don't forget VIP for $695...yeah that's how we roll.
Actually no, I only have $13 right now, what will that get me?

Do you have to go all three days? Can't you pay for one day or something like at Lollapalooza?

You should be able to although it doesn't appear that way... someone should tell that to somebody that knows somebody or something like that perhaps, because that ticket price is indeed outragous. Sorry Bella , but I think $13.00 might get you 2 PBR's at these things... :>)

man, i wanna see tom petty and radiohead, but the smaller acts aren't really justifying the pri$e. hand job for a ticket? should i try that?

Beck, Radio-Head(I feel one of the best live bands), Tom Petty, that's what I'm talking about. $225.00 I just shut-up. I am trying to put it in a real pocket context. What I mean is I spent a shit load on Van Halen tickets. It WAS VH(eddie the pioneer, top five all time greatest guitar player's ever, you have a favorite guitar player, chances are they learned and worshipped EVH), with David Lee Roth(even though he sounded like dog poop). Might not ever get that chance again(pretty sure of that, right ego Dave and nuts Eddie). I have seen Tom with Kraviz, Alone and with S. Miller. Can't justify that much money on Tom these days. Beck on the other hand I have never seen. Probably wait until he's on a cheaper ticket. Peace, and who ever gets to go, hope you get your money's worth, nothing worse than feeling ripped off at an event. I get steamed wasting 11.50 on a shitty movie which was supposably a best pic nominee.....a 225.00 beating/lose could be health detrimental..Jostel

They're only selling three-day tickets now. Might release one-day passes later, depending on availability. I'm guessing there will be plenty available by the time the festival actually rolls around.

I'm thinking it shant be too difficult to hop a fence. Here's a map to study of the terrain.

Nice ! thanks FG. The more I think about it, the more pissed I get about that price, they're going to have to release single day tics man, right? It doesn't make sense? They're killing their potential sales. The concert promoter(s) or whoever(s) made the decision for the price has got their head(s) up their arses... and the VIP tic, wtf?

Actually, it's unfortunately a fairly common practice. Although I think it's pretty fucked up, the promoters most likely figure (somewhat correctly) that they might as well sell as many 3-day passes as possible before releasing single-day tickets. They don't want one day to sell out instantly, and the other two days to have comparably dismal attendance. And it's not like it'll hurt their overall sales to wait on the single day passes.

Hardcore fans who want to ensure seeing Band X will be scared that the one-day tickets on the day Band X plays will sell out instantly if/when they are finally released later, so to play it safe they pay extra for the 3-day passes now... even if they don't really want to go for the entire 3-day event.

so has anyone heard if whoever makes the decision concerning ticket sales for this festival, has come to their senses yet and are going to hopefully offer 1 day passes to this thing??
